THE
ATTIC |
Have no
fear
What's here is here
Please not to quibble,or dribble or
leer,
It may be found
Or underground
It may emit an unsettling sound
It may be fleeting
It may be static
But what goes in the Attic
Stays in the Attic. |

Older Portfolio
| Excuse me,..uh..my name is Edgar
Allan Poe..and I was just walking down
the street in Richmond to deliver a manuscript to my boss at the
Southern
Literary Messenger ,when suddenly I found myself in this rather odd and
panelled room. The last thing I remember was stepping on the
words
hy...uh hyper link painted in bright blue paint on the sidewalk.I
thought
it a new type of advertisement for chains but now I'm not sure...Nearby
I see all manner of unique devices of a strange purport . I'm trying
not
to move as I am told this to be some sort of site for webs. Not that I'm
usually afraid of such things but I haven't had my morning coffee , and
I wish not to disturb their makers as I'm not sure what size they will
be,and I would also not be predisposed to destroy this balm, this
trance,nay,
should I say spell ?....which has descended upon me, ..as I should like
to perhaps frame it into a story or something for this issue.....I see
a rather large and purplish sign with the name "Van Allen",I know a Mr.
Van Lew on Church Hill and his sister Lizzy,as well as a certain Van
Kirk of shadowy repute, but this..the decor is so odd, and these
curious
hieroglyphs everywhere...html?..HuttemMill? Is this the Domain of
Huttemill?
Domain? Domain Name? What strange thoughts that are coursing through my
conciousness.Oh where is Main St.--I miss it so.....I should've become
an accountant like Mr. Allan wanted.... |

Picasso
Caught Animating
| Sometimes; an
amazing but
obscure piece of fine art surfaces and comes across our desk which we
feel
obligated to share with the
public.The
debate as to whether modern 20th century art in some of it's
expressions
is art, wall paper or drug induced, even
neurotic cartooning, is a long and difficult one, not to be settled
here.
But this, long thought destroyed piece, may shed new light on
this long bone of artistic contenton.Recovered from a long lost Nazi
hoarde,where
it was used in some post-bunker initiation ritual,it
is unsigned but experts believe it to be in the hand of Picasso,or
perhaps
by his friend Dali immitating Picasso. It appears
to have been completed (according to detailed watermark research) just
after Dali's last trip to Hollywood, where he spent
an enthusiastic afternoon riding on Walt Disney's toy steam
locomotive. The influence of the Southern Californian school is evident, but the time frame is
still unclear,
as it seems to predate the major stylistic developments which occured
during
the Saturday Morning Second Phase of
limited
animation that exploded in the 1960s.It is yet to be determined to what
extent the work of Joe Barbera may have
been
influenced,or indeed if he ever visited Picasso's castle or traveled to
Spain during his intense "Ruff and Ready/
Huckleberry" period. What Bill Hanna was doing,as always has remained
unclear.We
feel though that due to the early
nature
of the piece by the Spanish master, probably late 40's to early
50's,(along
with surrealist post-dadaist inscriptions
on the reverse side, such as "Gfrederico" and "YaBdaB Adieu" ,containing
special intrinsic meaning of an intense and personal nature),that
Picasso's
reputation as an artistic prophet is secure. |
