When your production is at the
crossroads, a good Storyboard can keep your
mise-en-scene on track, and avoid unecessary detours, whether your
approach is Hitchcockian
pre-planned, improvisational or shooting coverage. It can help to
avoid unecessary shots and save time and money. Done
in color or black and white, storyboards can range from fairly complex
production designs to quick continuity and editing sketches. The skills
and disipline developed in animation production, where you can ill
afford wasted footage and therefore must "pre-edit" a film before
production, provide an invaluable resource to live action as well. At
Van Allen we also strive to provide a certain amount of caricature and
movement to the sketchs so you get a sense of not only the composition
and action but the basic moods of acting involved.
